- Title
PATRIOTISM AND THE MUSLIM CITIZEN IN HINDI FILMS.
- Authors
Rai, Amit
- Abstract
The article traces the representation of Islamic terrorists in popular Hindi films "Sarfarosh," "Fiza" and "Mission Kashmir." It links the melodramatic form of Hindi motion picture to the romance of the Hindu national family. It connects the representation of Muslim terrorists to the construction of the abnormal monster in contemporary discourses of counterterrorism in the West and in India. It questions the ability of cinepatriotic narratives that render violence to render anti-nationalism.
