The article discusses the 1942 National War Poster Competition (NWPC) hosted by the Artists for Victory (AFV) in the midst of the Second World War. Topics explored include the reproduction and public distribution of war posters entered in "The Nature of the Enemy" category of the NWPC, the portrayal of enemies of the U.S. in the war posters, and the cooperation between the art community and the U.S. government prior to the Second World War.
