- Abstract
This document is a correspondence published in the journal Pediatric Cardiology. The authors, James J. Joyce and Sunita J. Ferns, are writing in response to a recent study by Molin et al. on the low sensitivity of standard electrocardiogram (ECG) parameters for diagnosing left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in neonates. They discuss their own small prospective study on right ventricular (RV) and LV mass development in early term infancy, which found correlations between ECG criteria and LV mass. They recommend further investigation of these findings using Molin et al.'s neonatal database. The authors emphasize the need for improved diagnostic accuracy of neonatal ECG criteria for identifying LVH.
