- Title
MOTHER CYBELE'S LIONS.
- Authors
Dingley, R. J.
- Abstract
The article states that in the poem "Endymion," a nature goddess of ancient Asia Minor Cybele's Chariot is drawn by "four manè lions." This is noted by writer Miriam Allot, in her work "The poem of Keats," where she cites a passage as the likely source for the description of Cybele's Chariot in the poem "Endymion." The author notes that one of the most interesting things, is the transitive use of 'cower', for which the only antecedent example cited in the "Oxford English Dictionary" is "Tam O'Shanter."
