- Abstract
Workforce diversity, and in particular the dimension sexual orientation and gender identity, is considered a catalyst within an integrated diversity & inclusion management. This study explores the importance that gay and lesbian employees in Switzerland attach to an open and inclusive corporate culture. Thirty-two homosexual employees were interviewed about their experiences in the workplace. The attitude of immediate superiors was identified as a central factor. Inclusive measures at the organizational level, on the other hand, were often not in place and were not expected. Where they did exist, however, they were valued. This article formulates measures for the inclusion of homosexual employees in the context of a sustainable D&I management.
