- Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the total phenolic and flavonoid contents, determination of the coumarine compounds, as well as antioxidant and antimicrobial potential of extracts obtained from the leaves of Daphne laureola L. from two populations (Mt. Suva Planina and Mt. Galicica). The results of a high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis showed that 5-O-β-D-glucosyl-7-methoxy- 8-hydroxy coumarin is one of the most abundant secondary metabolite in the tested extracts. The extract of D. laureola leaves from Mt. Galicica showed relatively high antioxidant and antimicrobil activity that is in accordance with the high concentration of its total phenolic and flavonoid content.
