- Title
THE GENERAL EQUILIBRIUM IMPACT OF ALTERNATIVE ANTIPOVERTY STRATEGIES.
- Authors
Bishop, John H.
- Abstract
This article provides a general equilibrium framework for comparing the merits of alternative methods of raising the income of the employable poor. The three-factor, one-sector model of a competitive economy is the simplest general equilibrium framework within which to examine the effects of subsidies available to only part of the labor force. The occupational choice that determines the stock of people with a particular set of skills and the hours of work decision by people with that skill are the two distinct components of the supply of a specific type of labor.
