- Abstract
The article discusses the life and career of Hungarian painter Miklós Barabás. The author reflects on the distinction between his watercolour painting of portraits, landscapes, and genre scenes and his more well known style of oil portraiture. Emphasis is given to his lack of formal artistic training and his favor of idealization of the subjects of his portraits over more realistic depictions. The article contains images of several paintings including a self-portrait, "Sunset on the Great Plain with Two Figures," and "The Derra House Destroyed by the Flood."
