- Authors

- Abstract
The Withdrawal Agreement protects most of the rights of nationals of the United Kingdom who came to work or retire in Spain before the end of 2020. Since 1 January 2021, British nationals are now subject to the more demanding Spanish rules governing immigration of thirdcountry nationals. This article seeks to highlight the position of British nationals and their families under the clauses of the Withdrawal Agreement - their rights to reside, work, healthcare and pensions - as well as the bilateral treaty between Spain and the United Kingdom that allows each other's nationals to vote in local elections in their country of residence.
