- Abstract
The article titled "Agostino Carducci, Marc Dax and Stigler's law of eponymy" discusses the phenomenon of eponyms in medical terminology. The authors propose the question of why certain diseases are named after specific individuals, while others are not. They introduce Stigler's law of eponymy, which suggests that scientific discoveries are often not named after their original discoverers. The article provides examples from neurology, such as Marchiafava-Bignami disease and Broca's aphasia, to illustrate this phenomenon. The authors do not take a stance on the appropriateness of using eponyms in medical terminology, but rather aim to explain the various factors that contribute to the naming of diseases.
