- Title
Exploring tradeoffs in hyperaccumulator ecology and evolution.
- Authors
Boyd, Robert S.
- Abstract
The author discusses the aspects of tradeoffs in trait evolution. He cites a study by H. N. Fones and colleagues which demonstrates a tradeoff that may tackle the evolution of zinc (Zn) hyperaccumulation by Noccaea caerulescens. He explains that hyperaccumulation is mostly linked with unusual soils with high levels of hyperaccumulated elements. He argues that Selenium (Se) hyperaccumulation may be a relevant in the syude by Fones and colleagues.
