- Title
On the Divine Plan and the Human Role in Development of Religion: A Response to Tom Idinopulos.
- Authors
Greenberg, Irving
- Abstract
The article presents a response to Tom Idinopulos regarding the book "For the Sake of Heaven and Earth." It is the author's opinion that the collection of essays is the outcome of a struggle of a believing Jew to recalibrate religious understanding in the aftermath of the Holocaust and the rebirth of Israel. As the outcome of that struggle, Idinopulos tried to articulate an affirmative Jewish theology of Christianity that would allow maximum scope for the fullness of its faith claims. The author believes that Idinopulos could have said that Christian ideas are to be honored as myths, but he wanted to respect more devout Christian positions as well.
