United States.
- Abstract
The article presents the economic outlook for the U.S. for the period 2007 to 2008. It is noted that second quarter consumption will most likely be at annual rate below 2%. Employment growth remains strong as payrolls have expanded by 132,000 in June 2007, with the previous two monthly gains revised up by a total of 75,000 jobs and unemployment at 4.5%. In May 2007, inflation has increased by just 1.9%, just within the upper limit of the government's presumed comfort range. It is expected that the federal funds target will remain at 5.25% until 2008.
