- Abstract
Considering the human anatomic structures and in particular the skeletal one, one of the most complex structures and at the same time one of the most "hidden" and difficult to point out or interpret and, eventually, classify as "normal" or "pathological" is represented by the skull. In the attempt of correlating the morphology of skull fractures and the characteristics of skull architecture in discussing the architectonic features of the skull and the mechanisms involved in producing skull fractures we considered the following basic elements: skull sutures, skull elasticity, structural inhomogeneity, the existence of various pneumatic cavities and also the presence of some more or less resistant areas. Most often, the traumatic event sets off several mechanisms, simultaneously or not, complex phenomena of the effects of skull trauma. Apart from some architectonic features of the skull there are also some anthropological elements that can influence to a great extent the mechanisms of various skull fractures.
