- Title
Epilogue: After Deren.
- Authors
Cleghorn, Elinor
- Abstract
The article examines the legacy of the works of avant-garde filmmaker Maya Deren. According to the author, Deren's emancipation of the strictures of theatrical dance through the capacities of cinema instantiated choreocinema, filmic dance, and dance film as subjects of discourse. The author notes that at time of writing "The Artist as God in Haiti," Deren had evolved her choreocinema from the elliptical, solo male dance of "A Study in Choreography for Camera" to mythological dance-drama.
