- Abstract
The authors analyze the process of genetic counseling and sociopsychological aspects of a decision making situation on the basis of the prenatal diagnosis of Fabry disease with manifestation in the family. It is suggested that genetic counseling comprises both prevention and follow-up. Psychotherapeutic measures mainly supportive forms and the presence of self-help groups are. To reach this goal, the medical team must develop an accepting attitude.
