- Title
Escape and Being Invisible: Subjective Salvation in Wang Xiaobo's Novels.
- Authors
Zhang Chuanping
- Abstract
Wang Xiaobo sets a number of escape-and-hunting plots in his novels, including the "escape from action" and the "escape from physical existence". He uses the strategy of escape and becoming invisible to liberate the imprisoned spirit and get rid of power control. The characters' subjective salvation, on one hand, reflects the author's deep insight and criticism towards their imprisoned situation; it also reveals his pursuit of "negative freedom".
