- Abstract
The uncontrolled existence of technology in human life has, over time, led to the emergence of a relationship in which the individual is trapped within technology. It is envisaged that this relationship, defined as technology addiction, can be overcome with personal will and effort, as in other types of addiction. This research was carried out to see the place of technology addiction in human life and to raise awareness about the process. 40 students were included as participants in this research, which was designed as an action research. In the research conceptualized as techno-fasting, participants were asked to stay away from technological devices between 21.00 and 23.00 in the evening for 7 days. At the end of the 7-day period, the written feedback reports received from the students were examined and the findings of the research were obtained by document analysis. According to the research results, participants mentioned that technology has various positive and negative effects on their lives. During the time periods when techno-fasting was implemented, participants mentioned that they became aware of their lives and themselves and became socialized. As a result of the research, participants said that the process was very valuable to them and their awareness increased. The research is important because it raises awareness of technology addiction by staying away from technology and it is an applied research.
