- Abstract
Solar water heaters have long been an area of study and it is still being studied by lots of researchers. Most of these studies are focused on improving the performance of the system. Several methods are employed in the calculation of these systems and various experimental data are needed to perform these calculations. In this study, it was tried to determine at which point the temperature of storage tank water should be measured as the average temperature of the storage tank water. For this purpose two identical solar water heater were prepared and tested at the same conditions. For the first system, the measuring probe was installed to only to the middle point of water tank and the temperature was measured by mixing the water just before reading the temperature. At the second system, 6 measurement probes were installed to the collector tank with a distance of 6 cm among each probe, and the temperature difference between these points was recorded during all the day. At the end of the experiment it was concluded that measuring the temperature from the middle point of the storage tank and taking it as the average temperature of the storage tank water is wrong.
