- Abstract
In this study, AISI 430/Ç 1010 steel couple was bonded by friction welding under 40 MPa of forging pressure, 25 and 35 MPa of friction pressure, at rotational speeds of 2000 and 2200 rpm in 6 and 8 second forging times using a continuous drive friction welding machine. SEM and optic microscopy were implemented to determine the metallurgical changes in the vicinity of interface regarding the rotational speed and friction pressure. In addition, microhardness distribition across the interface was evaluated considering the metallurgical changes. From microstructure examinations and microhardness results, it was seen that there was not a significant microstructure change at the interface but hardness was decrased in the excessively deformed region. But, with the increase in tempareture as a result of higher rotational speeds, the material removed at the interface increased and the width of the deformed region decrased.
