- Authors
Schuyler, David
- Abstract
In this article, the author responds to three reviews of his book, "Sanctified Landscape: Writers, Artists, and the Hudson River Valley, 1820-1909," that were printed in the present issue of the journal. He focuses on the reviewers' discussions of such topics as the relationship between the 19th-century residents of New York's Hudson River Valley and New York City, the connection between the Hudson River Valley and U.S. national identity, and the impact of collective memory of the U.S. Revolution on historic preservation in the Valley.
