- Abstract
The article presents information about the development and closure of the Shepparton South Technical School in Shepparton, Victoria. In 1966, the school enrolled 125 year seven boys and hired ten staff members. The schools hired six Kooris as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs to promote employment for Aboriginal people within Victorian Technical schools. In 1986 state election, the Labor party won and proposed to eliminate the Technical Schools Division in Victoria. The Blackburn Committee ordered that all technical high schools be transformed into postprimary schools.
