Abstract
The article explores the relations of history to literature. It discusses how history writing was viewed and the breakdown of the association of rhetoric and literature in the final phase of neoclassicism. It also describes the characteristic feature of eighteenth century fiction and the major themes of Holocaust and partition literatures.
