This article discusses the theory of Epic theatre, a major aesthetic theory developed by twentieth-century drama theoretician Bertolt Brecht, in the play "Dance Like a Man" written by Mahesh Dattani. It explores the impact of Brecht's theory on modern playwrights in India. The views of Dattani on the relevance of Indian theatre, the function of drama and the themes and concerns of his plays are described.
