American Universities: From Fighting South African Apartheid to Confronting Israeli Genocide.

- Abstract
American universities are known for their academic freedom and fostering critical thinking and social activism. However, recent student protests have highlighted the limitations of this freedom when it comes to confronting the Israeli government's actions. These protests have revealed a divide between those demanding an end to university complicity with Israeli policies and those who use accusations of antisemitism to silence criticism. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has aligned with Israeli apologists and antisemitic Republicans to pressure universities to shut down these protests. The ADL and its allies thrive on Western antisemitism and perpetuate insecurity for Jews in the West. They have sought to criminalize criticism of Israel and have compared the protests to Nazi Germany. The mainstream media often fails to report on pro-Israeli outside agitators who harass and attack protesting students. The current student movement, inspired by a sense of injustice and international solidarity, aims to end Israeli-made starvation and genocide in Gaza.
