- Abstract
The level of initial education, curricular structures and terminology in Speech and Language Therapy / Logopaedic (SLT) education programs varies across EU-countries, making comparisons of expectations and/or competencies of SLTs difficult. The NetQues project (2010-2013) was initiated and coordinated by Comité Permanent de Liaison des Orthophonistes-Logopèdes de l'Union Européenne (CPLOL), the EU umbrella organization of speech and language therapy professional associations. The project has brought together University/Higher education and professional associations from across all EU countries, in a multilateral academic and professional network of 65 partners from 31 European countries. The outcomes of the pan-European project are based on expectations of the newly qualified SLT, resulting from an extensive survey of SLT education practice and professional standards with respondents from key stakeholders across SLT academics, graduates and employers across the EU. Following the EU recognized Tuning Methodology, NetQues is defining SLT European initial educational benchmarks while also facilitating the sharing of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment, commencing with a comparative study of relevance of Subject Specific and Generic Competences across all programs. Thus, a key outcome is the production of agreed key competences and reference points or benchmarks.
