- Abstract
The article discusses the flu outbreak and treatment efforts within the U.S. Navy minesweeper ship the USS Ardent in February 2014. Topics discussed include 25 of 102 personnel being diagnosed with influenza-like illness, 16 of them have influenza A, the relation of the flu to the H3N2 subtype as proven by polymerase chain reaction testing, and the treatment approach through prescription of oseltamivir on affected sailors while containing the outbreak by immediate isolation of the infected.
