- Abstract
The article reports on the short-term effects of the legislation on health insurance coverage in Massachusetts. Under the legislation, all residents of the state as of July 1, 2007 are required to have health insurance, either from private insurers or the state-subsidized health insurance program called Commonwealth Care. It was found that the number of people having routine checkups increased to 74.1 percent.
