- Abstract
The article reports on the development of an artificial mussel by scientist Tai-Chu Lau and colleagues from City University of Hong Kong in China, that can be used by ecologists to monitor the concentration of toxic metals in water. The extraction of metal and other pollutants collected in the skin of mussels and shellfish help to record the marine and estuarine pollution. However, they are also affected by other marine properties including salinity, temperature and this can affect the accuracy of findings.
