- Abstract
The aim of the study is to obtain the images on peer bullying in fictional children’s books and to determine the views related to the solution of the problem of peer bullying. Document analysis design was used in the research. First of all, a list of documents to be used in the study with the help of field experts was prepared, and then this list was narrowed by taking into consideration the criteria of suitability, timeliness and content appropriate to the subject of the study. After the documents obtained with regards the study, they were first read without keeping any records. Then, they were examined in the focus of peer bullying, in other words, descriptive analysis was conducted. The new data set was analyzed with NVİVO 11 Qualitative Data Analysis Program, the data were enriched under the headings “the forms of bullying”, “victims”, “types of bully” and “forms of solution”. As a result, the most common type of bullying in the fictional children’s books was based on verbal and physical violence. It was found that the bullied characters were generally smart, intelligent, hardworking and honest. In addition, it was found in the books examined that almost all the bullying characters were male and that the victims often tried to solve the conflicts they experienced by being prone to violence.
