- Abstract
The author discusses the six strategies to foster habits of mind that are reflected in the understanding and use of civil discourse, regardless of subject matter or grade level that is intended for use of learning designers and practitioners. These include fostering cooperation, collaboration and compromise, teaching the power of diversity, developing empathy, emphasizing integrated knowledge, teaching critical discernment and encouraging self-evaluation.
