- Title
TEXTILES WITH PATTERNS IN WEFT-LOOP PILE.
- Abstract
The article discusses Late Antique textiles with supplementary-weft loops standing out from a plain-weave ground. The advantages of this technique include subtle color gradations and impressionistic effects. The disadvantage, however, is that this is a less precise method of weaving. The author presents pictures of a number of textiles that used this method, and provides information on the warp, weft, and loops of each one, as well as giving the dimensions of each one and the locations at which they are exhibited.
