- Title
Diagnostic Validity of Wechsler Subtest Scatter.
- Authors
Watkins, Marley W.
- Abstract
The article evaluates the diagnostic validity of four separate operationalizations of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) III subtest scatter. More recently, WISC-III range and profile variability index (PVI) were unable to exhibit adequate diagnostic accuracy for students with learning disabilities. Despite the negative research evidence, tables of subtest scatter range are included in both WISC-III and Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, ed. 3, manual. Additionally, subtest scatter continues to be identified as a diagnostic indicator of learning disabilities.
