- Abstract
Landforms of marine erosion and deposition in the southwest coast of Qatar Peninsula The southwest coast of the Qatar Peninsula under study extends between Latitudes 24° 42′ 22" - 24° 59′ 15" North and Longitudes 50° 48′ 22" - 50° 56′ 15" East, located on Salwa Bay which represents the fold region The concave located to the west of the State of Qatar. The length of the coast of the study area from north to south until the head of Salwa Bay at Abu Samra is about 16 km, or 2.5% of the total length of the coast of Qatar, which is 650 km. This study aims to examine the Geomorphological Landforms resulting from marine erosions in the southwest coast, as it is considered a distinct coast in the State of Qatar, where it contains many coastal geomorphological Landforms. The most important forms of marine erosion are: sea cliffs, shore platforms, notches, sea arches, marine stacks and caves. While the most important forms of marine deposition are: the beaches, marshes, tidal flats, sand barriers and lagoons, sand spites, and wave ripple marks. The southwest coast of Qatar Peninsula is known for its wonderful beaches but they have been neglected and not invested in, as they should be.
