- Title
Antigen presentation: Monotonous MHC sing in troubled times.
- Authors
Bordon, Yvonne
- Abstract
The article discusses the study which focuses on the Mouse Qa-1 (b) and the role of its human mologue HLA-E in promoting human CTL activity against the transformed or virus-infected tissue cells. It explains that HLA-E are highly conserved MHC class I-like molecules that protect host cells from cytotoxic lymphocytes through a single self peptide. It mentions that the presentation of Qa-1 determinant modifier (Qdm) eliminates the cells with defects by Cd8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes.
