- Abstract
This articles provides information about Rhincodon typus the largest fish and one of the most endangered fishes in the planet and is better known as whale shark. The body mass of whale sharks can reach up to 21,000 kilograms with dorso-ventrally flattened and very broad head with body quickly tapering from robust shoulder girth to narrow caudal peduncle. Feed primarily on dense aggregations of crustaceans and baitfishes. Reasons such as, slow growth and delayed and infrequent reproduction, widespread distribution in small populations and great mobility and slow swimming makes the fast extinction of the whale shark.
