MCKEAN, MARGARET
- Abstract
The author offers her opinion on elections and constitutional rulings and research agenda in Japanese constitutional law. The author suggests the multimember multivote system to promote issue-based voting and preserve the nation's multiparty system and a longer campaign season. She outlines cases that demonstrate the consistently safe stance adopted by the Japanese Supreme Court and legal contradictions in it rulings. The possibility of generational changes or the prevalence of supposed pressures on its judges in the Supreme Court is presented.
