- Title
STATISTICAL PROOF AND THEORIES OF DISCRIMINATION.
- Authors
LAYCOCK, DOUGLAS
- Abstract
The author comments on an article by Barbara Norris which explains the interrelationship between disparate impact theory, disparate treatment theory, and multiple regression in the context of employment discrimination cases in the U.S. The author cites several court cases in the country that combine both disparate treatment and disparate impact theories. The author notes that some variation of the assumption that African American and white populations are considerably the same in every relevant way is critical to all statistical evidence of the theory of disparate treatment.
