CONTEMPORARY DEVELOPMENTS IN BRITISH PRESERVATION LAW AND PRACTICE.
- Authors
ASHWORTH, GRAHAM
- Abstract
The article discusses the changes in the preservation law of Great Britain. Legislations that provide guidelines for historical preservation include the Housing Act of 1969, the Town and Country Planning Act 1968 and Civic Amenities Act 1957. The Preservation Policy Group offers recommendations to revise the Civic Amenities Act 1967 but emphasis is on groups who will ensure the maintenance of the preservation effort. Guidelines from the U.S. Department of Environment that support preservation law such as design of street furniture and car parks are mentioned.
