- Title
FINANCING THE NATIONALIZED INDUSTRIES.
- Authors
WHELDON, G. F.
- Abstract
The article discusses the issue of financing the nationalized industries in Great Britain. In several nationalized measures the Parliament has specifically shunned detailed control on the day-today operations of several industries but ministerial control is effectively exercised over the lines of capital development and finance. The financial arrangements for working capital and other short-term requirements have been comparatively simple since the large banks with their nation-wide network of branches are well able to meet the needs of large borrowers also. Nationalized undertakings are also pursuing a measure of self-finance out of their own reserves and other internal funds.
