- Abstract
The article focuses on the legal aspects of cooperative housing in the U.S. confronted by legal advisors. It states that housing cooperatives provide benefit of home ownership with economy, but it legal problems arise as each cooperative member becomes title owners after purchase of homes. It presents information on the laws related to organization of a housing cooperative, including the trust form and the corporate forms like private limited dividend housing corporations, incorporation under cooperative laws, and non-profit corporation laws. It also offers information on the U.S. laws on taxation of cooperative housing.
