- Authors
HORACK, BENJ. S.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the survey on general usury laws. Usury is defined as a loan or something circulating as money that can be repaid with an exaction in excess of interest allowed by law and made with unlawful intent. Forty-four U.S. states have general usury laws for the protection of the borrower. Keeping in view that the defense is entirely for the benefit of borrower, the debtor need to bear the onus of pleading and proving usury.
