- Abstract
In this study, the correlations between composition and properties of epoxidized trans-1,4-polyisoprene (ETPI) with the same epoxy degree have been established. It can be seen from the morphology obtained by SEM, there was a clear distinction of phase separation between the raw ETPI samples with different compositions. Also, the mechanical properties of raw ETPI and curing characters of unfilled ETPI mix were analyzed. All these results showed regular changes which was correlated with ETPI compositions. DMA studies demonstrated that ETPI with higher epoxy content possessed good wet skid resistance and low rolling resistance which could be used as tire tread for high performance tires. While, ETPI with lower epoxy content showed great potential as damping materials due to its broad damping temperature.
