- Abstract
Risk of transmission of infections to others after donor-derived infection transmissions This permissive transmission process contrasts sharply8 with sexual or injection-related HCV transmission, which is generally associated with a stringent genetic bottleneck and transmission of a small population of quasispecies. In this issue of Transplant Infectious Diseases, Kim and colleagues1 highlight a simple yet important issue overlooked by the complexities of managing transplantation of organs from hepatitis C virus (HCV)-infected donors into HCV naïve recipients (D+/R-).
