SERDP and ESTCP Corner: Headlines from the Environmental Restoration Program Area.
- Abstract
The article discusses the work of the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) in funding research and development for environmental restoration. The organizations focus on various program areas, including environmental restoration, and have been significant funders of applied groundwater research. The article highlights two presentations from a symposium on groundwater treatment and management. One presentation discusses the use of mass discharge as a regulatory metric for groundwater cleanup, while the other explores the use of phytoremediation and bioaugmentation as a green remediation strategy for 1,4-dioxane contamination. Additionally, the article mentions the development of web applications to simplify environmental data analysis and visualization.
