- Abstract
The article considers the importance of providing the right support to newly qualified nurses in the United Kingdom (UK). It identifies healthcare and workforce issues facing nurses and presents recommendations designed to meet nurses and midwives' core work needs of autonomy, belonging and contribution and to facilitate well-being and motivation at work. Challenges facing newly qualified nurses and midwives include psychological safety, leadership, culture, student experience and commitment.
