- Abstract
In order to evaluate the response of Creole ewes from the Mountain of Guerrero state to a Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET) protocol, a study was carried out at the Colegio Superior Agropecuario del Estado de Guerrero (CSAEGRO), located in Cocula, Gro., at 18∘ 15' 26'' North Latitude. Six Creole ewes were utilized as donors and 18 Pelibuey sheep as recipients. Receivers had for 11 d an intravaginal device containing progesterone, plus an intramuscular injection of 200 IU of eCG when the device was removed. Donors received a superovulation protocol that consisted of the intramuscular administration of 200 mg of FHS-P in decreased doses that started 4 d before the device removal. Embryo collection was carried out 6 days after the last mating. Descriptive statistics were used. Superovulation rate, number of corpora lutea and of transferable embryos collected from donor ewes were 50 %, 4.3±5.2, 2.2±2.5, respectively, whereas that the fertility rate registered in the recipient sheep was 50%: The response of donors to hormonal protocol evaluated for superovulation was low and variable, while in the recipient the fertility rate was moderated.
