The author talks about the many ways the role of the chief financial officer (CFO) has changed over the years through globalization. According to the author, the growing complexity of a senior-level financial executive's role is due to necessity. Some of the issues facing the profession are differing national and global accounting standards, foreign exchange rates and tax rates. Particular focus is given to Financial Executives International, along with its efforts to chart the growth and expansion of the finance function.
