- Abstract
This article, titled "Diagnosis and management of tip of J-pouch leaks - A video vignette," discusses the diagnosis and surgical management of leaks that occur at the tip of a J-pouch, a surgical procedure used to treat ulcerative colitis. The incidence of these leaks is poorly characterized, and they can be challenging to diagnose due to their sometimes indolent presentation. The article presents a case study of a 46-year-old male patient who experienced a delayed leak at the tip of his J-pouch and describes the surgical approach taken to manage the leak. The authors emphasize the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion and a low threshold for operative exploration in cases of suspected leaks.
