- Abstract
The article presents a study which examines the bacterial microcompartments and their properties and paradoxes. It recounts that bacterial compartments are large and sophisticated multi-protein complexes that are functionally diverse and widely used by bacteria to optimize metabolic processes. It optimizes processes by spatially organizing the encapsulated enzymes and by regulating the movement substrates, cofactors and products.
